Background
Tile is a motif that consistently appears in my work, where the repetitiveness of the pattern is comforting and a source of stability. “Talking” represents the reclamation of an upsetting personal experience though talking with my mother in the kitchen / dining room of my childhood home. With the predominate color blue taking up the edges of the painting, and brighter colors in the center with the landscape, I wanted to capture the sense of ease of moving forward from a place of discomfort.
